2021 Salem Award for Human Rights and Social Justice

Join Voices Against Injustice and Peabody Essex Museum on Tuesday, May 25th from 7:00 – 8:00 PM as we honor Cosecha Massachusetts as the recipient of the 2021 Salem Award for Human Rights and Social Justice.

About Cosecha Massachusetts:

Cosecha Massachusetts (part of Movimiento Cosecha) is being honored for their leadership in fighting for access to drivers licenses for immigrants, regardless of status, while also organizing as part of a national campaign fighting for permanent protections, respect and dignity for all 11+million undocumented immigrants in the United States.

Cosecha’s grassroots efforts mobilizing communities have included multiple peaceful actions – marches and rallies, a 4-day hunger strike at the State House, and a 13-day, COVID-safe encampment outside the State House last July.

In addition to their activism and advocacy, their responsiveness to the pandemic helped meet the needs of hundreds of families throughout the state, and they provided resources for 1000+ families.

We are honored to be presenting Cosecha Massachusetts with this year’s Salem Award for Human Rights and Social Justice. We are also honored to be celebrating this year’s Rising Leader Award recipients from Salem High School and Salem Academy Charter School.

Join us as we REMEMBER the lessons and legacy of the Salem Witch Trials and HONOR champions of social justice so that we will be inspired to ACT.
