Salem Today

Salem in the 21st Century

Salem, Massachusetts, is mindful of both the many proud moments in its history and its responsibility to ensure that the events of 1692 are understood today in a world still living with prejudice, violations of human rights and miscarriages of justice.

The awards and work of Voices Against Injustice and the Salem Witch Trials Memorial are just two examples of how the Salem community addresses its history and contemporary social justice issues. The Jonathan Corwin House (The Witch House), the Salem No Place for Hate Committee, the Salem History Museum, the Salem State University Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, the House of the Seven Gables, and the Salem Museum all demonstrate a community-wide awareness of Salem's unique history and what this history symbolizes throughout the world.
